A quick blog post on CLOSET ORGANIZATION

On the Marie Kondo – Let’s Tidy Up Facebook group I mentioned in my previous post (Raspberry Vodka), people are always asking for advice on how to tidy up this and that. I have plenty of advice to share, haha. Those who know me are probably NOT surprised by that one bit, haha!
I’ve shared these tips that follow a couple of times, and the reception has been awesome. Honestly, I’ve been surprised how awesome – has no one thought of them before? I can’t be the first.
Organization for purses
If you’re one that likes to keep purses in a dust bag, this isn’t for you. I don’t do that. I rotate my purses often enough that they don’t get dusty. Honestly, I do usually carry a different purse every day. In our house before this, we had a great closet system in our walk-in. There was a really high bar that I really didn’t need to hang clothes from since we had a lot of other bars. So, I bought some shower “S” hooks and hung my purses from it. It worked really well. In this house, we didn’t have that same high bar, so Dave and I installed one – that’s the one in the pic below. Still worked the same. I mean, purses never stay up properly when you try to stand them up beside each other. There’s nothing in them, they flop all over. Stacking them just looks messy. This way, they always look neat hanging, and if you want to put them in their dust bags, you still can. Just the handles would be sticking out. Take a look.

My clutches (I only have a few), makeup purses and overnight bags, I keep in wicker baskets. Yes, that is a Katniss Everdeen doll, still in the box.

Organization for Belts & Things That Hang
For Belts, I use an over-the-door towel rack, one with multiple hooks, which I hang over the closet door. As you can see, the rack is also perfect for hunchies (hair/head scarves) and leis that you got from Hawaii but that you don’t want to throw out.

How do you organize your purses and belts?
Got any closet organization hacks to share? We’ll talk about house organization another time. Keep it to the closet for this post.
